Influences of limestone stone quarries on groundwater quality
Rapid population growth and increasing demand for the modern settlement has led to the increase of environmental pollution. Limestone quarry is one among the activities that affect environment and ecosystem in Pemba Island-Zanzibar. Quarrying activities brought an inevitable destruction to the environments ranging from excavation, soil and land degradation, loose of biodiversity and water pollu...
متن کاملUtilization of Soft Computing for Evaluating the Performance of Stone Sawing Machines, Iranian Quarries
The escalating construction industry has led to a drastic increase in the dimension stone demand in the construction, mining and industry sectors. Assessment and investigation of mining projects and stone processing plants such as sawing machines is necessary to manage and respond to the sawing performance; hence, the soft computing techniques were considered as a challenging task due to stocha...
متن کاملA Short-term Production Planning Model for Dimension Stone Quarries
In this paper, problem of short-term production planning for dimension stone quarries was mathematically modeled using a binary integer programming. The model includes an objective function, which was founded as the minimization of the costs due to the total cutting planes of the blocks. This objective may cause to maximization of the net present value (NPV) in dimension stone quarries. During ...
متن کاملAnaplasma phagocytophilum Infection in Ixodes ricinus, Bavaria, Germany
Anaplasma phagocytophilum DNA was detected by real-time PCR, which targeted the msp2 gene, in 2.9% of questing Ixodes ricinus ticks (adults and nymphs; n = 2,862), collected systematically from selected locations in Bavaria, Germany, in 2006. Prevalence was significantly higher in urban public parks in Munich than in natural forests.
متن کاملAirborne concentrations of chrysotile asbestos in serpentine quarries and stone processing facilities in Valmalenco, Italy.
Asbestos may be naturally present in rocks and soils. In some cases, there is the possibility of releasing asbestos fibres into the atmosphere from the rock or soil, subsequently exposing workers and the general population, which can lead to an increased risk of developing asbestos-related diseases. In the present study, air contaminated with asbestos fibres released from serpentinites was inve...
